Carbon Dioxide

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the most important greenhouse gas. It results from burning fossil fuels, land use changes, and cement production. Since 1750, before the industrial revolution, global atmospheric concentrations of CO2 have increased from 280 parts per million (ppm) to 379 ppm in 2005 which significantly exceed atmospheric levels during any time during the past 650,000 years.
