How to Insert an Image and Attach a File

This page explains how to insert an image into a wiki page, as well as how to attach a file to a page.
Images
To insert an image into a wiki page:
- Download the image to your computer, if it isn't already. Note that images should be used only if they can be used legitimately--for example, noncopyright material or material that is held under a Creative Commons license that allows for distribution and usage with attribution.
- Upload the image to the wiki page. Do this by clicking on the green button on the right at the bottom of the wiki page you're editing/creating and select the image you have on your computer that you'd like to use. In the "Description" field of the popup menu when you upload, type in the caption you would like to have eventually included, along with the source of the image. HINT: You can check that your image uploaded correctly by making sure that you see a thumbnail of it appears in the "Images" section, along with your description, at the bottom of the wiki page. Double clicking on the thumbnail will load the image as a slideshow.
- Insert the image into your wiki page. Make sure you're in the "Edit page" mode and place the cursor where you'd like to insert the image. Click on the "Insert Image" icon in your editor. Select the image to insert and choose image size "medium" and alignment to the right.
- Adjusting your image once it's been placed. Right click on the image and it will give you the option to adjust the image. This will allow you to change the image, adjust its size, and adjust alignment. To delete an image, select the image while you're in the edit mode by clicking on it, and press the delete button.
Files
To attach a file to the wiki page:
- Download the file to your computer, if it isn't already. Note that files that are uploaded should be allowed to be distributed.
- Upload the file to the wiki page. Do this by clicking on the blue button on the right at the bottom of the wiki page you're editing/creating and select the file you have on your computer that you'd like to use. In the "Description" field of the popup menu when you upload, type in the title for the file, along with the source of the file. HINT: You can check that your file uploaded correctly by making sure that you see a icon and the desciption of it appears in the "Files" section at the bottom of the wiki page. Double clicking on the icon will initiate downloading the file.
