Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) is an independent, nonprofit think tank based in Boulder, Colorado that promotes efficient resource use and market-based solutions to environmental issues. 1
RMI strives to foster environmentally sustainable practices while stimulating financial wealth by helping "businesses, communities, individuals, and governments create more wealth and employment, protect and enhance natural and human capital, and increase profit and competitive advantage." 2 RMI research focuses on real-world practices and policies related to energy and climate change, producing position papers, outlining econo-environmental strategies and providing consultation. 3 High profile clients have included Wal-Mart, Ford, and Pacific Gas & Electric, as well as the Pentagon and the White House. 4
